In fact, research showed Medifast benefits include not only weight loss, but a reduction in inflammation and oxidative stress as well, as these are two of the primary causes of chronic illness. I am almost done with my second week of Medifast and I have to say, so far so good! I was given a coach's number through the daughter of a friend and I am on my way to better health. Make sure you consult a specialist who enjoys a good reputation in the industry as well as with the clients. I found that by using an electric kettle or a regular tea kettle on the stovetop and boiling water separately, rather than using the microwave, it works MUCH better! Then when ready just cook it up on the stove. I am a bit of a food snob, so this has been difficult.
How Munchery Works
Add cinimon it makes it tast like french toast. I also coat my fry pan with either olive oil or flax oil. Hi Susan, I too hated the pancakes but now I love them made this way not sure if this is cheating at all but it beats throwing the packets out, right?
I cook this on a stove top skillet as one large pancake. I can eat this every day for breakfast. Please try, hope you like it. I add butter buds to the oatmeal and sprinkle it on the pancake before the syrup. Makes me think I have the real thing. Thanks for all the suggestions. You have all given me new hope I can make his meals more tasty!
I am very encouraged with the results, and will continue. I have tried everything in the 4wk kit, and seem to like it all…even the oatmeal!
However, I have 2 boxes of soft serve mint and mango and I just cannot seem to like it even a little. Is there a trick or a recipe that someone has to get me thru these boxes? My next order will be custom, so I can eliminate it all together! But until then I need your help!! I was just talking to my friend about this today. Find it in the soup aisle, in a jar and is like a paste.
I mix my stew with water and 1 tsp. I mix all my soups with water and let sit overnight in fridge, since they are freeze dried, they need some time to absorb the liquid. Hi — today is my first day using my new medifast products….. I saw a recipe for toco salad using low fat ground beef or ground turkey.
Mix lettuce, tomato, gr onion. Top with salsa which is allowed. Add toco seasoning to cooking beef. Top salad mixture with beef and enjoy. I make a wonderful Toco Salad using Thousand Island dressing. I wonder if you could add a little fat free Thousand Island to the salsa? I has some left in the freezer. I like Kraft Free Zesty Italian. I also use it as a baste for chicken. Anyone have that recipe? My husband has lost about a hundred miles and I have helped. The pie sounds great. I have several recipes and I am perfected a couple of these, but he is eager for a new treat.
Thank you, Thank you!! I put about 2 cups of water in a four cup pyrex measure, add 1 pk. This also helps get in some more of my oz of daily water: If you use the stick blender to make frozen soft-serve it will double in volume. The stick blender is a big deal with this eating plan. Thanks for the idea- my soft serve never comes out right but I have a few packets left — now I have a new way to try them!
I am on day 2 and tried the peach iced tea, I do not like it at all. Any ideas to make it taste better? I took the peach tea and drank it warm, it reminds me of a peach cobbler juice warm out of the oven, just no peaches or dough!! I started Medifast 5 weeks ago after deciding my weight loss from gastric bypass had stopped and I need to loss more!
I lost lbs from the bypass and maintained the loss for 10 years, but need to lose about more….. Being a chemist means my kitchen often looks like a lab when making some of my meals! I like to make up a lot of shakes and puddings using different flavorings and freeze them. Irish cream- Dutch Choc. Can be frozen in sealed plastic glass for later…take out and let sit for 1 hr. Butterscotch — 1 pkg. Remove from freezer 1 hour before serving and it is like eating a pudding pop!!!
Where do you find Walden Farms. I live in a smallish town and have not found it. We also find Walden Farms items at Fred Meyer in our town. I have also found a few Walden Farms items at a Super Walmart.
The only place I can find the Marshmallow dip, which we add a spoonful to our shakes to make it thicker, is at Fred Meyer. I think you may also be able to order these items online thru Walden Farms.
Does walden farms count as a condiment or a healthy fat if it is fat and carb and everything free?? They also have Italian and Ranch sprays. This is also my favorite salad dressing. Aloha from Michael and Lorelei on Maui!!!! Michael has just lost an amazing 54lbs. But check back often on the site because we will have more videos and blogs coming up…All of our posts over the last year can be found on facebook on Lorelei Williams.. I have been on Medifast for 8 weeks and have lost 21 lbs.
I was getting Hungary for good old fashioned hamburger casserole. I made my family the draditional pasta casserole and here is what I did for me. It was great and took care of my craving. Add all ingredient together in medium fry pan. Cook until broccoli is tender. Add 1pkg tofu pasta. Cook until heated through. Dark chocolate shake is good with a teaspoon of instant decaf coffee, ice cubes and water blended in a small blender.
Crusty Chicken I rolled the new Medifast chese pizza bites in the bag before I opened it. I used 4 oz of chicken that I dipped in one beaten egg. Then I dipped the chicken in the pizza crumbs.
I sprayed the pan with Pam and cooked for 3 minutes per side. I threw away the extra egg, but put the few crumbs left on top while cooking. I ate this with a serving of canned green beans as a contrast to the spicy chicken.
I have only been on medifast 11 days and am very happy with m loss of 11 pds. I will be checking hee often for ideas. I have been on MF for a month and love it.
Anyone has a similiar experience or thoughts on how to make it better? This is a great site. I need some kind of recipe for turkey burgers, of course without the bun. I just have to say thank you to everyone here. But this website made me feel so much better. I hear and hope it gets easier with time! But now I have some great ideas on what to do with the oatmeal and tons of other stuff!
I am almost done with my second week of Medifast and I have to say, so far so good! I am happy I found this website with so many great ways to make the food more satisfying!! I found the chocolate chip pancakes to be pretty bad…. I add a few walnuts to my pancakes and just a tiny drizzle of honey obviously try not to do that too often but it does make it taste better … YUMMM! I too hated the chocolate chip pancakes but the walnuts made them taste much better… Just a small amount though becuase of the increase in calories and fat.
Thanks for all the good ideas as I am just starting out and am having a difficult time enjoying the taste of many of the meals, as is. Any suggestions for when I have that chip craving?
Lisa, have you tried Kale chips? Wash the Kale, pull the leaves from the stem and tear into bite-size pieces. Dry with paper towels and put on baking pan in single layer.
Spray with Butter Pam and sprinkle with Mrs. Dash or spice of your choice. Bake at degrees for 15 minutes. This gets a crunchy texture and Kale is sooo good for you. I love it that we r all in this together.
I am only on day 6 but I have lost 13 lbs and I love all the recipies and support on this site. Thanks for the ideas everyone and keep em conning! Im sure I will have some to share eventually too. My hubby and I started 1 week ago, and of course he has lost 8 lbs and I have lost 3 lbs. One of our combined favs are Southwest eggs made as omelet with the Vegetarian sloppy joe as filler. We split it our course, and have a tsp of salsa on top.
I am seeking out other combos such as this so please post what else you all are doing! Brand new to this Medifast thing—safely made it to Day 5 without cheating.
My tips, so far, for any newbies are: Literally gagged them down with 20oz of water!! What is up with those things?
Love the recipes on here…feel like this is pretty easy! Sarah 84 days until Spring Break! I dip the honey mustard pretzels in various mustards. My favorite is a deli style horseradish mustard. Hi Everyone, I have been on Medifast for a week now and I lost 7 lbs! It was hard at first but am getting use to it. I am glad to be able to have ideas on how to use the Medifast packets to make something different to eat. Good luck to everyone who is on Medifast! The smell is also horrendous. Any recipe ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!
I add the following ingredients to the eggs: Makes all the difference in the world! Best advice I can give is to cook on the stove in a small frying pan MUCH better that when you cook in the microwave.
Added some onion powder which also helped. Mix eggs with water and let them soak for a while. Take out the veggies and cook the eggs; then add the veggies back in. Some salsa helps, too. I add a half serving of egg beaters, try the southwestern. You can also add chopped red pepper and onion to just medifast serving. Always do scrambled, never microwave, use Pam and scramble in fry pan.
Hi, I know this is a bit late, but I use Mrs. Add it before you put it in the microwave. This is my 5th day on MF. I did the eggs according to directions, added 1 tbsp. Drop this bag into a pot of boiling water and boil for 15 minutes. You can use the salsa on top of the cooked omelet. If you are craving for a pasta, there is a shirataki noodle that is 20 calories, no-oodle noodle and miracle noodle with no calories.
That can be your free food. You can also use the tomato soup for a sauce, diced some tomatoes and blend it and add ground meat. I am soooo excited to get started on this program.
Since I am going to be in my first week, can I use these variations right away or do I need to wait until my body starts adjusting? I know my TSFL coach told me to try to stick to the program very strictly to see the desired results. Thanks in advance for any help or advice! Just finished week 3 and have lost 10 lbs. I am a bit of a food snob, so this has been difficult. I am not a fan of the oatmeal or soups, at all…. I did accidentally find that the cappucino is better cold than hot.
I filled my shaker with water to make a shake and acidentally added a cappucino instead of a shake mix. Its a little quirky and foamy after shaking at first….
When I fixed it hot, half of it foamed and overflowed and the fiber was very noticable and gave it a sludgy consistency. Any suggestions for the oatmeal or soups? The consistency of the oatmeal was awful and the taste not much better. Exercising while on the diet should be kept at a low intensity level. This is not the kind of diet where you will build muscle and be doing heavy workouts down at the gym.
Medifast is one of the most successful and balanced low-calorie diets available. It has been used successfully at John Hopkins Weight Management Center, among other places — it is one of the few diets that are medically proven to work 1.
A smaller trial found greater reductions in weight and fat compared with a calorie-controlled food-based diet. Yet another trial compared weight loss between a food-based meal plan, and the Medifast plan. At 16 weeks, weight loss in the Medifast group was higher I am starting Medifast today for the second time.. I ddid meifast last year and was losing the weight but then I found out I was pregnant so I had to discontinue…My son is now 7 months and I am ready to get my body back..
I need to drop lbs.. I really hope I can stick to it this time around. I am actually doing it through Take Shape for Life. I am just starting week 7 and have lost 28 pounds and 23 inches! I still have 50 more to go but I feel so much better! It is so worth it. I have tried so many things that failed. I get so excited everytime that scale moves!
If I can do this anyone can. This is my 2nd time on Medifast. It is working for me! I have lost 66lbs in 13 weeks! I am so excited. I love the food! I started at lbs! I have a whole new life! I never realized what the extra weight was doing to me emotionally. I took a slightly different route. I decided to go through Take Shape For Life.
They are a division of Medifast. I am in it for a lifestyle change and it is wonderful! I love the Chocolate and Swiss Mocha shakes as well as almost every Bar they have!
I am considering trying Medifast for the very first time. I have been fortunate that my body responded as well as it did to this diet. It is better to suffer a little now, then later in life when it is too late to help you body and heart. I dont want to die because I am over weight that is a dumb reason! Congrats to everyone one the medifast plan.
I too was on it in 08 and lost 30lbs. I know it is hard, but you feel so good when u drop a couple sizes and feel thinner. I am wondering if anyone out there has gained weight back after the program, I have done the program 3 times and have gained almost all the weight back each time.. I have been on the medifast 5 and 1 plan now for 3 days, starting the morning of my 4th. I stepped on the scale this morning and wow down to When I weighed in on wednesday night today is sunday I weighed in at I am excited to see what my one week weigh in is gonna be.
My goal is to lose my first 50 lbs by the end of July. I hear so many of you complaining of cost-how much is your health worth? Believe me the cost of all the medication and Dr visits will cost way more than a medifast. Take care of yourself -you are worth every penny! I placed my first order and am angiously awaiting for it to arrive. I am making myself a priority!
Once I got past the inital transition period, I stopped being hungry and started being less tempted by the bad foods brought into the office on a daily basis. My husband and I are doing this together which helps a lot! I have been on medifast for 11 days. So far I love it. Some of the foods are super delicious, others leave much to desire. There is a lot of information on how to edit your meals to make them taste better, and then once you know what you like you can just reorder.
So far over 6 pounds gone which is amazing, water weight or not I am excited! I dont feel hungry at all as my body is in this light form of ketosis but all the added protien allows my body to not breakdown my own muscle. I cant wait until I get to week 3 and can exercise again! If you are considering this- consider it for at least a month. Yes it is expensive but if you add up all the money you spend on groceries plus fast food, snacks drinks- they add up. I wish i had found this program years ago!
I was on this diet for 3 months. Started at and now i am down to I have stopped eating their food since december and have not gained a pound, but have been slowly losing it. Not some miracle diet. Or it could be the fact that im 19 and all medifast did was kickstart my metabolism and teach me some portion control. For all those who have been on the Medifast Diet and have lost a lot of weight, go get a HIDA Scan done to check your gallbladder function.
PLEASE, go get that gallbladder function test done after losing large amounts of weight to make sure your gallbladder is still functioning!!!!! Those of us with weight problems will likely struggle for the rest of our lives. Your more or less have to stay on a diet permanently. Losing weight quickly makes you feel good and keeps you motivated. Once you get past the first week you feel great. I eliminated all my stomach problems and was in a great mood most of the time.
I love the scrambled eggs, with a lil bit of pepper and salsa but you have to whisk them before cooking not only mix with a fork , same for the chocolate pudding…whisk well, and plaze in the freezer not the fridge for 30 minutes, so creamy and delicious! My fav shakes are the whey protein ones, like the dark chocolate shake, I add ice, and a tbsp of Black Cherry sugar free syrup which you are allowed to and blend it, super yummie, my coworker tried it and she said she would drink it without being on the plan!
I also like the Cinnamon apple oat meal, I add a little brown sugar splenda and a bit of cinnamon powder…very good. The trick with the soups is to let thme soak… at least 30 minutes. My favorite soup is the Wild rice, I add a bit of Tabasco and black pepper…wonderful and filling!
You have to stick to the plan EXACTELY…no piece of fruit here and there and no cheating, it is not good to take your body in and out of the mild kitosis Medifast puts you in. You re-learn how to eat and what a portion is really suppose to be.
No miracle, nothing will work, not even surgery, if you go back to your old habits! Good luck to you! Food is not that great and is very expensive. Medifast Staff is rude. Can not even have fruit or high carb veggies like peas. So it is hard to follow for more than a couple of months. Weight gained back very quickly even following up with a low calorie plan. It must have something to do with maintaining low carbs or starting to eat carbs slowly. There is no mercy with this plan.
You follow it exactly or you GAIN weight. Can not workout any more than 45 minutes a day or you will not loose weight. If you have to loose a lot of weight fast, go for it. But be very careful coming off or you will gain more than you lost.
I am strictly following the diet and I can say that I am not hungry!!! I have begun lightly working out the last 3 days. I have honestly not felt better. I would highly reccomend it! I had success on Medifast once before, but feel that it contributed to my thyroid becomming less functional. Medifast denies this of course, but soy is a thyroid antagonist, and when you strictly do Medifast, you are living pretty much exclusively on soy.
I was doing only the shakes, no meal. My weightloss was proceeding, if you could call it that, at a glacial rate. That is, S-L-O-W 2 pounds in four weeks, despite complete compliance. I think my case is unusual, but again, if you are borderline hypothyroid I really feel Medifast is NOT a good program for you. I was diagnosed finally as being clinically hypothyroid and went on thyroid meds.
I found a different program — HMR — which is medically supervised and also uses shakes, but these are milk based except the shakes made specifically for the lactose intolerant. I have had no problem whatsoever losing on HMR and am down over 40 pounds in 10 weeks. Medifast is okay but I really believe all that soy is what sent my thyroid over the edge.
If you are having trouble losing on Medifast, get your thyroid checked and really consider switching to a non-soy based diet program. Once I switched to my health coach at miofit. I have been on the Medifast program for 62 days. I have had 4 total in 62 days I have also given myself a fruit day here and there. I have lost a total of 13 lbs average 1. I am an avid exerciser, always moving, yoga Hot and cold , running, pilates, dancing Ballet, Hip Hop, and Salsa , boxing, biking, and anything I am interested in doing that day!
The Medifast program has given me energy, confidence, and a new handle and control on what I eat and when I eat it. I was noticing before the program all kinds of stomach issues, once I cut out greesy fried foods, dairy, and the ton of bread I was consumming, all of the problems disappeared. Once I started Medifast and had about a week of cleansing, my system was normal again. Now running is easier, I can go farther and last longer, since I am lighter.
I love this program and will be on it till I complete my goal of safe weight loss with another 24 lbs to go! And hey if it takes me till a year from now, so be it! I am in no rush for anyone but myself! Love yourself more then you love anyone else first! Remember health is your bestfriend! And be good to you today! I have been on this program for two months and I have lost 35lbs and went from a size 24 to an I have never felt better.
Far less than I was spending eatting out all the time. I have not had any medical issues as a result of being on this plan and I have never felt better. Just do it, all the junk we eat is killing us……… think of it as a health plan NOT a diet. Be very carefull of this one. I have colitis from taking it for a short time, so it certainly is not for everyone.
Trying to work my way back to good health and promising my body that I would never do anything like that again.
